It’s not known exactly when a cricket club was formed in Bogan Gate, or when the cement pitch was put down on the recreation ground, but matches were played before the First World War. The club started up again in 1947 and played in various competitions around the area.
There should be plenty of ‘young’ cricketers with stories to share, with the introduction of junior cricket to Bogan Gate in 1972. Teams were field in the under 10s, under 14s and under 16s, with Bogan Gate winning the under 10s and under 16s at the inaugural competition.
The Bogan Gate Cricket Club ceased playing in 1988.  Time to catch up with your cricket mates.
